Something different ….. a bit

Rather than Juncos, Chickadees, Cardinals and Blue Jays a few different species.

Just after lunch I looked up and there were loads of Snow Geese heading East in the direction of Middle Creek. The image below was just the tail end of several skeins of geese. Needless to say shortly after I headed out to Middle Creek.

I stopped initially at Tour Stop I below the visitor center and tried to get a decent shot of a Belted Kingfisher. He wouldn’t come to the nearest tree even though I waited patiently for well over an hour.

While waiting for the Kingfisher this Merlin came and landed in the top of a nearby tree so I took several shots of him.

After giving up on the Kingfisher I headed up to the Willow Point car park and headed out to view the rest of the lake. There were very few Snow Geese on the water, probably the rest were out in the fields. There were 12 Bald Eagles on the opposite shore every one a sub adult and they weren’t very active. A couple of flyovers did spook the geese into flight occasionally.
